“When It Was Chaotic” – Emilia Tarrant

Music has always been a useful tool for a myriad of things. We use music to wed, music to relax, music to aid in a cry. In the case of songs like “Fake Happy” from Paramore and “Numb” from Linkin Park, music can also help give a voice to the mental health issues we’re dealing with. Now, Emilia Tarrant joins a long line of impeccably done songs surrounding the effects of mental health with her latest, “When It Was Chaotic.”

There are a lot of ways mental health is combatted and one of them is medication, but that can sometimes leave people feeling well, numb. “When It Was Chaotic” takes us inside the dormant mind of someone combatting an inner battle between that desensitized state of mind and the chaos that once flowed through their mind. Throughout, Emilia Tarrant doesn’t shy away from the thought, “Maybe I preferred it when it was chaotic.” What’s more is that while this song takes on a serious subject, Emilia delivers it in such a way that you almost lose the subject matter and just vibe the arrangement and her commanding performance.

Emilia Tarrant has been making a steady climb into the hearts of music fans around the world since she dropped her debut, “If You Want Love,” in 2019. Taking a break the following year from releasing new music, the England-based singer-songwriter was back in 2021 with her debut EP, ‘Honeymoon Phase.’ “When It Was Chaotic” sets the stage for what’s to come in September 2022.
