“Worried” – Callen

We had the pleasure of interviewing Callen, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: What did you enjoy the most about creating “Worried”?

CALLEN: Writing the lyrics to “Worried” was easily my favorite part of the process because I really just described a lot of literal feelings in my initial experiences with the person I wrote the song about. It’s a wordy song, but I like the way it tells the story of falling for someone right after meeting them.

Q: What inspired it?

CALLEN: A very nice person, whose name rhymes with henna and is in med school currently. We’ve been dating ever since I sent the song about two years ago. Also, the song has evolved a lot since I originally wrote it. The production was nowhere near what it is today, but there is also something special about the first version I made two years ago. Happy to share that with you in case you are interested!

Q: What was your process like for this song?

CALLEN: I had a riff that I kept playing ever since the first night I met the person that inspired the song, and so I wrote lyrics trying to relay my feelings alongside that riffy riff. After I sent the first version of the song to her and we started dating, I reproduced the song several times over the years until I landed on what it is now. It’ll be on an album eventually.

Q: How are you hoping listeners will respond?

CALLEN: I’m hoping my listeners will smile and relate some of this song to their own life, and maybe even ; ) ; ) put this song on a playlist.

Q: Could you possibly see yourself doing anything else full-time?

CALLEN: I definitely could not see myself doing anything else full-time. Music is my calling, and I’m way too far in to look or turn back. I love it and I love making people feel things with my music. I want to help people cope with existing through my music. That’s very deep, but at the end of the day I think that’s the point. At Least that’s where I’m at with it right now. Music is a tool to make people feel better, whether it’s distracting them from something or someone, or helping them sink into a feeling, or something else.

Q: What projects are you looking forward to?

CALLEN: I’m looking forward to releasing the album with this song on it. It’s sonically and lyrically very different from my first album and I think it’ll set the groundwork for my third album appropriately.
