The Best Songs for a Little Self-Care & Self Love

Pink, purple, and red hues overshadow the month of February as romance takes center stage. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just that we need to remember it’s important to take care and love ourselves. With that, we wanted to give you a cascade of songs to choose from that celebrate that notion because as RuPaul has said on all 567 seasons of ‘Drag Race’ thus far, “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else? Can I get an amen?”

Nicki Minaj feat. Beyonce - “Feeling Myself”

With a chorus that leans heavily on the repetition of feeling one’s self, it’s hard not to get amped up when you’ve got Nicki and Beyonce on the mic.

Lady Gaga - “Born This Way”

This one from Lady Gaga is less of a song and more of an anthemic declaration to the world that you were born just the way you were supposed to be.

Sharpay & Ryan - “Fabulous”

Okay, yes, this is a song from the ‘High School Musical 2’ soundtrack, but hear me out. The confidence that Ashley Tisdale’s Sharpay has in this film franchise is unmatched, and if you can embody her essence by singing this song a few times into your hairbrush while getting ready, then you’ll go on to have a, well, fabulous day.

Christina Aguilera - “Beautiful”

It’s been almost 20 years since middle schoolers around the world sat in their bedroom crying over “Beautiful,” and you know what? It still holds up. If this song doesn’t boost you up, listen to it three more times.

Andra Day - “Rise Up”

It’s hard not to feel inspired by this song from Andra Day. Whether you need a personal pick-me-up, or a kick in the behind to go out and make something of your day – this song is it.

Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas- “This Is Me”

Disney Channel knows how to deliver the musical inspo.

Paramore - “Ain’t It Fun”

This is one of those songs you blast at an 11 when it seems like you’re a team of one because it helps you realize that yeah, perhaps you don’t need anyone else to make you do the best you can do.

VINCINT - “Save Myself”

If you have yet to check out VINCINT, please do so now. “Save Myself” delivers soulful pop that bursts through with these very admirable declarations of self-worth that are undeniable.

Alessia Cara - “Scars to Your Beautiful”

Over a decade after Christina Aguilera dropped “Beautiful” came its Gen Z counterpart with Alessia Cara’s “Scars to Your Beautiful.” Both are wonderful reminders that beauty isn’t just one thing, and that we all possess our own unique forms of it.

Katy Perry - “Roar”

“Roar” is the type of song you put on right when you wake up to get pumped about taking on the day.

LMFAO - “Sexy and I Know It”

Yes, this is a silly song but hey sometimes you need to crank up the hilarious tunes and dance without a care.

Jetty Bones - “Innocent Party”

Jetty Bones shows a lot of strength and growth within the confines of this song from her ‘Old Women’ record. The line, “I wasn’t always the person that I am now/But I worked so hard to get here” will hit home for everyone working on themselves.

Lizzo - “Good As Hell”

It’s hard not to feel wonderful when Lizzo is the soundtrack.

Taylor Swift - “Shake It Off”

When the world is stressing you out, or you’re feeling low – just shake off the negativity and the haters.
