“Got Me Good” – Oh Blonde

We had the pleasure of interviewing Oh Blonde, and here’s what she had to say:

Q: What inspired the melody for “Got Me Good”?

OH BLONDE: I was really just playing around with chords on the piano, not initially with the intention of writing anything. But then I kinda landed a chord progression that I really liked, and the melodies came along with the lyrics.
This was written ages ago it feels like. I started writing it in the fall of 2019 and finished it just before the lockdown in March 2020. So the first round was making it a demo. For this, I recorded vocals on my own in my room, recorded some chords, and sent it off to a producer who played around with it and really made me believe in the potential of the song!

Q: What was a typical day in the studio like?

OH BLONDE: Due to covid, it wasn’t until 2021 I actually decided to go into the studio and finish the song. We kept a lot of the ideas from the first demo but made it into something really beautiful and cool in my opinion.

Q: What would you say was your favorite aspect of the creative process?

OH BLONDE: I think with this one, it was recording the vocals and getting the demo back! It was so raw and authentic and felt really nice.

Q: What do you enjoy most about creating music?

OH BLONDE: Honestly, the result. The creative process is so nice but also a process where you are judging your abilities quite a bit – at least I do. So I love listening back to a finished track and enjoying and celebrating the hard work that everyone who has been part of the process has put in.

Q: How has your 2023 been so far and what’s one thing you’re really looking forward to doing this year?

OH BLONDE: It has been really good! Really happy that it is summer now – I look forward to travelling and going to festivals and look forward to spending it in the studio writing music with loads of new inspiration.

Q: How long have you been creating music and what’s your favorite memory from the process so far?

OH BLONDE: I have been creating music since high school. My favourite memory is playing with my band back in 2020 just a few weeks before lockdown – we travelled from the UK to my hometown on the west coast to play a gig, and I had the best time.
