“Catholic Country” by Kings of Convenience and Feist

Kings of Convenience are back with a brand new single titled “Catholic Country”, a mesmerizing tune that features captivating vocals and rhythmic instrumentation. Featuring Feist, “Catholic Country” is full of delightful surprises as it takes you on an unexpected trip.

With a rhythmic acoustic guitar introduction cleanly framed with an upbeat Latin flair, “Catholic Country” transports you to a warm, breezy day complete with sunshine and humidity. The verse enters with a steady, low-key energy as the lead singer depicts the scene. Feist enters at the second verse with her serene, breathy vocals that create a strikingly beautiful juxtaposition when paired with the continuing guitar instrumentation. The tone of the song is both modern and nostalgic; while the production is fresh and inviting, you could almost imagine hearing this song in a tropical movie scene from the 1950s. Ringing piano arpeggiation makes an unexpected entrance alongside glowing melodies that add layers of depth and excitement to the unassumingly complex tune.

After a hiatus that lasted nearly a decade, the Bergen, Norway-based band has just released their fourth album Peace or Love. A single from the album, “Catholic Country” offers a unique sample of what the new release has to offer. Featuring incredible instrumentation, impactful production, and an unmatched blend of vocal talents, “Catholic Country” will have you hypnotized and planning your next getaway.
