Must-Have Breakup Songs To Help You Move On

Once upon a time in the 1960’s a bunch of Boomers sang, “Breaking up is hard to do.” While they can’t figure out a Word doc today, they were onto something back then because all these years later – yeah, a relationship gone south is still a hard AF thing to deal with. Thankfully, music has always been there to ease the pain of a broken heart, but if you’ve yet to stumble upon a playlist that is meant to make you think twice about crying over some loser who dumped you – look no more. We’ve got the ultimate moving on from a breakup playlist…ever.

10. “Irreplaceable” - Beyoncé

If there is one song that can make you feel like a total boss after a breakup, it’s this one.

9. “Really Don't Care” - Demi Lovato ft. Cher Lloyd

All of the songs on this list mean the world to someone out there and I’ll be 100 with you right now, this is mine. Some years ago a dog of a man treated me like trash and I let him. Then one day I heard this song, danced around my apartment in the middle of the afternoon, and ignored his calls – after one more hookup that made me feel incredibly bad. Then it was NO MORE. This one allows you to break free and not give a care in the world!

8. “No Scrubs” - TLC

If there was an anthem for not wanting to deal with losers in the dating realm, this would be it.

7. “good 4 u” - Olivia Rodrigo

We suggest pairing this power-pop song with a bottle of wine and your best friend because one should never be alone after a breakup and one should never have an Olivia Rodrigo sing-a-long party alone either.

6. “Without Me” - Halsey

Remind yourself that you were what they needed, not what you needed in this world.

5. “Rose-Colored Boy” - Paramore

It’s time to take off those rose-colored glasses and realize that the person you aren’t with anymore ain’t that great.

4. “Figures” - Jessie Reyes

If you don’t feel an emotional release after singing this one, hit repeat and try again. We promise you’ll feel better after listening to this one.

3. “You Oughta Know” - Alanis Morissette

Almost every song above has this one to thank. It taught and continues to teach people that you’re allowed to be angry as hell after a breakup.

2. “My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)” - En Vogue

Are ringback tones still a thing? If so, make this yours in case they call.

1. “You Don’t Me” - Lesley Gore

You can either listen to this classic or watch ‘First Wives Club’ and then catch the epic version at the end of that ‘90s gem.
