“Screwcap Diet” – Leyton Thomas

There is a underlying desire to experience change when you turn on “Screwcap Diet” by Leyton Thomas. The gentle guitar strumming and understated percussion create a reflective atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in a clear but confined structure, like a Californian snow globe. However, this allows the reflective lyrics to take center stage. Thomas’ lyrics come across as if he is grappling with the mundanity of his existence and trying to finding solace in the small pleasures. I can completely relate to the feeling the weight of a monotonous routine pressing down on them, and looking for something new to experience. Definitely give this song a chance if you are looking for a calming, indie-rock tune that has themes of transformation and rebirth.
