“Yellow Brick Road” – uLtRa_Eko

‘The Wizard of Oz’ has been a part of pop culture since the tail-end of The Great Depression. Not so ironic then that “Yellow Brick Road” by uLtRa_Eko would intertwine the journey to Oz and mental health all in one. Taking his personal yellow brick road, uLtRa_Eko walks us through the inner battles people face day to day with a marriage of nostalgia and present-day hip hop deliveries.

Anyone over the age of 30 will instantly recognize the sample uLtRa_Eko has weaved in throughout how new single. It is hard to deny that Mariah Carey’s “Always By My Baby” doesn’t brighten up the track. It is one of those songs that can instantaneously put a smile on one’s face, which is why it balances out the rest of the song so well. uLtRa_Eko doesn’t hold back and isn’t afraid to lay all of his cards on the table as he digs deep into the various aspects of mental health and its impact on those just trying to make it from point A to point B without falling off the path.

In many ways, uLtRa_Eko has carved out his own “Yellow Brick Road” as everyone’s mental health voyage is not the same. He displays that here with a heavy hand and showcases a vulnerable strength in his performance. Speaking of strength, uLtRa_Eko has been coming strong with the material. Not only is “Yellow Brick Road” his eighth single this year but also follows the release of his fifth album, ‘On Trial, Part One.’
