“WYD Now?” – Sadie Jean

Much like my reaction to hearing “drivers license” for the first time, I could not believe “WYD NOW” by Sadie Jean was her debut single. Like, what? Right out of the gate with something so beautifully done, so on the nose of what makes a modern-day pop song great, so catchy that I had to sit and listen to it several times before even trying to dive into reviewing it. Ugh, I love music, and I especially love hearing young women coming through and continuing to be the best in the game.

Sadie Jean had a bit of a viral moment when she gave fans around the world a taste of “WYD NOW?” on TikTok. Over 10,000 people went on to do video recreates, which then led to well over 80,000 more pre-saving the song in a mere two weeks. Which, why wouldn’t they have? This song is a master class in how to take the emotions, heart, and the hopeful naivety of first love and put all of that to song. Sadie Jean does that with this spin on pop that is fresh, allowing it to fit in nicely with the current musical climate.

Again, this is Sadie Jean’s debut and if she can do this much with one song – we cannot wait to hear what else she has in store for us as we race towards 2022. For now, though, all of us can listen to “WYD Now?” on repeat as much as we want as it’s available now on all major music and streaming platforms.
