“Used” – Ceara Cavalieri

Two very obvious things came to mind when I dove into “Used” by Ceara Cavalieri. One was the few months a certain loser owned my heart in 2014, and the other was a flashback to many years before that when shows like ‘Radio Free Roscoe’ and ‘Degrassi’ ruled the TeenNick because in between those addicting series, music videos played. Videos that Ceara Cavalieri reminded me of heavily.

“Used” tells the tale of a familiar relationship. The one where the relationship is like a couch that has to be moved up a flight of stairs and one person is doing all of the heavy lifting, while the other is taking breaks to check their Instagram. It is a scenario we hear quite often in music, but what made “Used” stand out was that early to mid-00s style that stirred up memories of Avril Lavigne and The Veronicas because Ceara Cavalieri comes through with a definite pop style, but one that has some bite to it. The Southern California-based artist has found that fine line between pop and rock and is riding high on it at the moment.

This UCLA alum decided to put aside her degree and focus her sights on music and for the past few years has been doing just that, releasing several singles, including a pair of collaborations this year as well as “Radio Silence.” Her latest, “Used,” is available now, and to hear that and more, make sure to check Ceara Cavalieri out on all major music and streaming platforms today.
