“Timeless” – Lily Jewel

We had the pleasure of interviewing Lily Jewel, and here’s what she had to say:

Q: What’s the story behind “Timeless”?

JEWEL: “Timeless” is love song for my boyfriend of over four years. We fell for each other in eighth grade, and have fallen more in love every day since.

Q: What was your songwriting process for this song?

JEWEL: I wrote this song sitting at a piano, wanting to find a way to capture the feeling of a timeless, simple love song. The melody and words came after the piano chords.

Q: What would you like listeners to take with them from it?

JEWEL: I hope that this song reminds listeners to appreciate their loved ones throughout the day. Love is everlasting, and I hope this song brings comfort and peace in times of both joy and heartache.

Q: What song do you currently have on replay that you can’t get enough of?

JEWEL: Recently, I’ve loved listening to Noah Kahan, specifically “Stick Season.”

Q: What projects are you currently working on?

JEWEL: I have written over 55 songs, but have only released four. I’m hoping to record some of my newer songs within the next few months.

Q: Outside creating music, what are your hobbies?

JEWEL:I am a high school senior and I will be attending UC Berkeley this fall with an intended major in Business Administration. I am passionate about academics and entrepreneurship, and I hope to one day create a company that tackles environmental issues. I dedicate much of my time to fundraising for cancer research with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I also love to explore new places and solve puzzles!
