“Play With You” – Robert Eibach x Elle Dubleu immediately pulls the listener in with its addicting house vibe. The vocals are incredibly strong with that mainstream sound singing an entrancingly catchy “I Just Wanna Play With You” hook. The track moves through many electronic sections, switching off the beats and amount of layers to keep it fresh. It is full of vocal chops, vocal effects, and those classic house synths that drive the track to be the perfect dance song. The rhythmic synth patterns on on-par, the whole production is finely-polished, and it sounds like it could definitely be played on mainstream radio outlets. DJ/Producer Robert Eibach has #1 remixes on Billboard (Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Mark Ronson, Jennifer Lopez), as well as having worked on Grammy-winning albums. “Play With You” is about making the best of only one night with person, just enjoying the moment with no inhibitions or expectations. The songwriting team on this track was comprised of Eibach, Lilianna Wilde (aka Elle Dubleu) and Sean Kolar.
We had the pleasure of interviewing with Robert Eibach, and here is what he had to say:
Q&A with Robert Eibach
This song is awesome! Can you walk us through your creative process for producing and recording “Play With You”?
Hi, thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words regarding “Play With You”! Lilianna Wilde (aka Elle Dubleu) and I had been talking about recording a song together for a while. I was in the studio one day and had an idea for a vibey house track, with some pop elements, so it could be danceable at any hour. I started with some lush pads and effect sounds that felt like they move and surround the listener. I was pretty locked into the feel, so the track production developed quite naturally. Within a few hours I sent the music over to Lilianna and Sean Kolar, my co-writers on the song, to get their input. They sent me back a really cool demo vocal with song ideas that we decided to finish crafting in the studio. We all vibed pretty well together being in the same room, and ended up writing the melodies, pre-hook and bridge in just a couple recording sessions. After Lilianna recorded her vocals, I customized the music around what she did, tracked my vocals, mixed it and the rest is history.
I see that you have some credits for Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Camilla Cabello, and Mark Ronson. Could you share with everyone what songs these credits were for?
Yes, I am honored to have remixed these amazing artists you mentioned, plus several others. Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left To Cry”, was the first song I remixed to reach number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart. I really loved the original version of the song from first listen, so I felt blessed for the opportunity. The songs I remixed for Jennifer Lopez (“Baila Conmigo”) and Mark Ronson featuring Camila Cabello (“Find U Again”) both hit number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart this past year. It was pretty cool to have my remix of “Find U Again” highlighted in a Billboard article too! The remix I did of Taylor Swift’s “ME!” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco was fun because I tried something different and had my friend, Latin Grammy-winner Dale Chung record live congas on it. Miley Cyrus’ alter ego for “Black Mirror”, Ashley O, had a song called “On A Roll” which I remixed and reached the top 5 on the Billboard Dance Chart.
Was there any defining moment in your life when you knew music is your passion?
I have always been creative and involved in music projects. But, the defining moment was in college. I was a bio-chemistry major at Temple University and realized that I didn’t want to be stuck in a lab all day. A friend of mine told me that there was a major in the communications department that focused on music production, and I switched that day. It was the best decision I made in college, I loved it!
If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be?
Great question! There are so many amazing artists out there. But, for me it comes down to the song, and finding the appropriate artist who can breathe life into it the best. If I had to choose though, it would be Demi Lovato. She’s incredibly talented.
What is coming up next for you?
Right now, we are focused on “Play With You, and really excited and humbled to see all the support so far. I’m eager to start performing again once everything opens up after the pandemic. I am involved in David Longoria’s new jazz album “A Better Place” which is really innovative. Also, there are a few collaborations you can keep an eye out for. Additionally, I am very proud to work with Refining Purpose Worldwide, a fashion brand, who with every t-shirt purchase, donates a free t-shirt to a foster youth in need.
Any parting words for your followers out there?
To anyone out there that’s deciding what to do in life; go out, stay true to your heart and achieve your dreams. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you can’t, because at the end of the day, you’re the one who ultimately decides the life you want to live. Thank you so much for the lovely interview!
