“Chasing Shadows”, dropped today by Michelle Ray, is an extremely catchy and upbeat electro pop tune. The song is phenomenally written in the way that that melody builds from the rhythmic verse up to the pre-chorus and finally hits the highest point of the chorus with the undeniably memorable “Chasing Shadows” hook. The production is quite electrifying and dancy with polished mixing and mastering to the highest grade. It would be hard for anyone to hear this song and not start to dance to the magnetic beat. Michelle Ray is an incredibly talented singer with enticing commercial pop-type vocals that make you want to replay her songs over and over again. The song is energizing and leaves us with the feeling of a sweet sweet summer.
Michelle Ray, Los Angeles singer/songwriter, grew up listening to many genres and was drawn to soul/R&B pop music in particular. Her influences were Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars, which really shows in the way that her vocals are very powerful and soulful. Personally, I am a sucker for serious soul singing tastefully placed on a pop tune. So she’s got the whole package in our book!
Not surprisingly, she has previously been on NBC’s The Voice, Team Blake, Season 4. Her vocals have made their way to features on Maybeline, Mastercard, JCPenny, Nickelodeon, and numerous others. Additionally, she has also been featured in shows such as Garry Marshall’s “Mother’s Day,” Amazon Prim’s “The Expanse,” and Bravo’s “VanderPump Rules”. She has performed all around the L.A. scene and has had some encouraging press from PopDust. All in all, “Chasing Shadows” shows that Michelle Ray is a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
