Now is the time to kiss the lips of Judas with his latest track, “Lying Thief.”
“Lying Thief” is one of those tracks that would pair perfectly with any high-energy party. There’s an EDM instrumental vibe, and the mix and production make everything in this track truly come to life. It’s punchy and fun, and the excitement is followed well with the hedonistic nature of the lyrics, which will be explored later. This track has a strong beat overall, but when it drops, it really delivers. The more foreground synths have a nice thrashy buzz, which makes things even more powerful. One of the best instances of this is near the end of the track after the bridge. At about two minutes, everything fades back to an ethereal synth backdrop, the vocals cut in softly, and then the whole beat takes over for a strong finish.
“Lying Thief” strays from being a track about love. It’s more of a track about lust. It comes from the voice of a confident narrator who gets what they want through their charm. The last few lines of the chorus go, “Drive you insane (In your brain) / Turning you on until it’s hard to breathe / Caught inside the web I weave.” There’s an aspect of it that rests along the lines of dom/sub kink culture. That being said, it explores the confidence one may have to pull in someone’s desire just to be gone the next day. They’re a lying thief, making promises just to not follow through. Though it has that party anthem vibe, there’s a lot to read between the lines.
“Lying Thief” just came out on June 25, so now is the time to add it to any hype playlists!
