“Look My Way” – Kevin Ross

“Look My Way” by Kevin Ross is absolutely indulgent. Lush, grandiose harmonies, intricate chord progressions, and smooth, melisma-filled vocals all come together to create this unabashedly retro R&B masterpiece. You don’t even need to think too hard about it–this is a fantastic song. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath, and melt into the luxurious musicality of “Look My Way.”

A perfectly textural drum groove and a bright vocal sample usher us into the track. “Girl I love to walk by you each day / But you don’t even know my name,” Kevin croons on top of a vibrant piano glissando. His voice has an effortless yet perfect tone, gliding from note to note in this sultry, nonchalant way. He switches registers with ease, flinging a few sweet falsetto background vocals into the mix. Full band hits, muted, staccato guitar strums, and gloriously pithy percussion really slide this track right into that beloved 90s R&B niche, but with the modern twist of a trap hi-hat groove. If you were elated by Silk Sonic, then look no further for your new favorite artist. Kevin Ross has all of the soul and coolness of the “Leave The Door Open” Duo.

Stick around to hear Kevin belt out a climactic bridge, then fade out with another twinkly flourish of the piano. It’s an immediate playlist add, especially if you’re into pop or Neo-soul. So, be sure to give Kevin Ross a follow, a like, a download, and most importantly, as many streams as you see fit.
