“Naive” by Madishu

Anyone who has ever been in a toxic relationship, especially a toxic friendship, will find Madishu’s latest song “Naive” immensely relatable. The beautiful blend of percussive strings and atmospheric synths with Madishu’s assertive delivery, give the song a pleasantly distinct sound. We had the pleasure of interviewing Madishu, and here’s what she had to say:

Q: I loved the percussive strings and atmospheric synths! What was your inspiration for the soundscape of “Naive”?

MADISHU: I love strings, this is the one instrument that can fully blow me away even when they’re completely alone. I have started incorporating more and more strings in my songs lately and with “Naive” as well, the songwriting process started with the strings. I wanted the song to be catchy and make people want to dance and feel free.

Q: What was your creative and production process for this song? How did it come to you?

MADISHU: After I had the production demo I was wondering what should I write about. I usually start writing the lyrics first so this was an unordinary thing. As I usually write about my struggles, using songwriting as a creative outlet to channel all my energy. I used the thoughts about the toxic friendship I used to be in and let it all out in this song.

Q: I see you’ve been releasing music as an independent artist since 2020. What influence do you think this has had on your career and what advice would you give to other independent artists?

MADISHU: I think with more experience, you learn what to do and what works for you. Every single artist has their own unique experiences that they will learn from. If I started from 0 today there are lots of things I would’ve done differently, but I cannot look back. The only thing we can do is stay consistent, learn, and take every opportunity.

Q: Apart from making music, what are your hobbies, and are there any other career paths you’re currently involved in?

MADISHU:  I am passionate about all art forms, it has been one of my dreams lately to do a bachelor’s in Fashion. At some point I wanted to pursue a career in fashion, I’ve learned to sew and design and I do that with my stage outfits, music video outfits, and more casual outfits 🙂

I also spent 2 years studying interior design and visual art. The last year art has been drifting away from me so I am planning to bring it back into my life by making an art collection with each piece inspired by a song of mine. Every piece will have to be what the song feels like.

Q: That sounds interesting! Good luck! What was the highlight of your 2022, and what is your musical roadmap for 2023?

MADISHU: The highlight in 2022 was discovering DnB and being featured on “Need U”. The song now has over 3.3M streams. This whole experience helped me deep dive into the club music world, giving me the opportunity to write over 100 Toplines for various Electronic music producers and DJs.

Q: What would you like to say to your supporters?

MADISHU: Thank you so much, for being by my side every step of the way:)
