“Leaving” by Bella Rios

Bella Rios’s brand new track “Leaving,” which was released on July 10, is an absolute rush of dynamic emotion!

“Leaving” by Bella Rios rests in the warm beauty of crisp production and a buzzy acoustic guitar from the start. It captures a bright tone, almost percussive, with the way that the strings are struck. Then, the vocals come in with a powerfully full alto tone. At 0:40, the acoustic sound breaks into a growly bass and kick drum in the background, and the vocals find their way into a belting tone. After this, the percussion fills out, and another guitar enters, this time electric. There’s an energetic back and forth in this track, and it helps to tell a story. Sometimes the instrumentation is full, and the vocals scream along, not holding back. At other times, the vocals are full but softer, and the instrumentation is stripped back. Overall, there’s prowess on all ends here, and the production is next-level. Bella Rios’s vocals particularly stand out with how they bend and weave through different sounds.

When it comes to lyrics, “Leaving” details a relationship between the main voice of the track and someone else who seems to have different facets of their personality. When they sleep together, sometimes the narrator feels like they don’t even know who they’re with. As the partner goes through different phases, the narrator also swings along with their personality, shifting around through confusion and chaos. That being said, they feel this is controlled by the other party. Part of the chorus goes, “I kind of hate the version of me / That you’re forcing me to be / I shouldn’t have to doubt what I believe / I feel sad then sick then nothing.” All in all, they want to leave this partner, but they feel they don’t even know which version they’re leaving.

This is such a great release to put into any emotionally loaded playlist, but it also has the kind of energy that makes it an absolute bop. “Leaving” by Bella Rios is out now and ready to stream!
