“I’ve Seen The Future” – Seeroy

Listening to “I’ve Seen The Future” by Seeroy feels like it should’ve been added in the soundtrack of a mid-2000s TV show soundtrack, like “Nurse Jackie,” for instance. Seeroy’s somber vocals gives me the same feeling I get when I stare down a long, dark tunnel with only a flickering candle to guide me. From the first notes, there’s a palpable sense of yearning as Seeroy sings about looking for signs and something to latch onto. The lyrics convey a sense of tension, like waiting for a storm to break – you know it’s coming, but you’re never quite prepared for the onslaught. But amidst the bleakness, there’s a flicker of defiance. Seeroy accepts the news, no matter how painful, and wishes it wasn’t true. “I’ve Seen The Future” hits like a punch to the gut, the song is bitter pill to swallow, but one that’s all too familiar for anyone who’s ever faced disappointment head-on.
