“Inner Smile” – Pink Skies

Having spent almost two decades in Los Angeles, I can say with assurance that “Inner Smile” by Pink Skies feels like a night out in the City of Angels. A night out in the depths of Silverlake at a venue where a disco ball hangs to give off a vintage, shimmery aesthetic as the chill indie-pop waves of this song come and go on the sands of your mind.

Pink Skies takes us into the mindset of someone sprung on someone so much that they have the power to touch them deep within aka their inner smile. It is a song that carries a lot of depth but at the same time comes through light and airy enough that many are going to adopt it and put it on many summer playlists due to its chill vibrancy that pays homage to a psychedelic past while remaining in the here and now with modern arrangements holding things together from start to finish.

“Inner Smile” is Pink Skies’ second single of 2022, following a handful released last year from ‘Summer’s For Lovers.’ Clearly, an artist tied to the seasonal warmth of this time of year, Pink Skies’ music embraces that California heat and packages it in music that makes listeners feel just as warm. ‘Summer’s For Lovers’ was Pink Skies’ fourth album since dropping his 2018 debut, ‘Does It Really Matter?’ back in 2018.
