“HAPPY FOR YOU” – River

Old school soul records spinning on the daily, singing along like it was her sold-out show, dreaming of a day when it’d all be real. That’s a familiar scene for River, the Swedish R&B songstress. She packed a bag, went around the world, and is now focusing on her latest release, “HAPPY FOR YOU.”

Described as a comeback song, “HAPPY FOR YOU” tells the story of someone going back and forth over how they feel about their ex, with the result being growth and the ability to let them know that it is over and done. It’s a song that spiritually belongs on a playlist alongside the likes of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” but musically feels like it’s a close relative of what we have heard in recent years from Jessie Reyez. Like Reyez, River’s music comes through with a soulful influence but modernizes it with contemporary arrangements. Vocally, she gives off a powerful presence with every line raising the bar throughout.

When River initially left Sweden she landed in Australia with a guitar in hand. After busking for the locals she hopped on a plane and settled down in Mexico for a while. There she found her footing in bands performing everything from jazz to the blues. In 2021 she started down her own path with the release of her debut single, “Miss Me.” Since then she’s released two more including “HAPPY FOR YOU.” To hear all River has available, make sure to check her out on all major music and streaming platforms today.
