It’s only been four years since Alex Mali first hit the scene with her explosive debut single, “Facts Only.” Since then the Brooklyn-based phenom has dropped a cascade of singles, an EP, and will soon grace the world with even more of her talent with her ‘Iconic’ mixtape. ‘Iconic’ highlights Alex Mali’s evolving world of sound with the mixtape’s lead single, “Heart Strings.”
When Alex Mali first stepped into the spotlight the energy was raw, dynamic, and full of the Brooklyn spirit. As the years have gone by all of that has remained the same, but the young songstress has been able to showcase and highlight a variety of styles she has packed inside her from the hip hop ways of her debut to her more R&B vibes on “Addicted.” With ‘Iconic,’ she is again proving there is nothing she cannot do with waves of electronic pop and indie moods being tossed into her pot that already includes all of the above.
“Heart Strings” takes all the genre-blending and puts it to work on a song that many can and should relate to because it has a wise message at its base. That is to be careful who you give yourself to in regards to relationships. There is no denying that this #1 song in the making would give the likes of Demi Lovato and Camilla Cabello a run for their money on the charts.
