“happy for you” – Jasmine Thompson

Being in a relationship takes a level of maturity but it takes even more when things turn sour, leaving one person starting a new life and the other just standing there, watching. Of course, that’s not in the literal sense as social media has made it easy to keep tabs on former partners AKA easier to live in turmoil. That upsetting reality teamed with a big dose of maturity is what the foundation of “happy for you” by Jasmine Thompson displays fully.

It only takes a few seconds of “happy for you” for listeners to catch the inner turbulence going through this narrative. Jasmine Thompson delivers heartache with such passion as we’re invited into an audible heartbreak that comes with a side of mature thinking as the story takes an unexpected turn when the one standing there sad as can be wishes nothing but the best to the one that broke their heart.

Story aside, it was and will forever be Jasmine Thompson’s voice that pulls me, and many others in as proven by the numerous highlights the London-based 20-year-old singer has had thus far in her career. Her collaborations on “Sun Goes Down” alongside Robin Schulz topped over a billion streams, and 2020’s “Funny” with the Grammy-winning Zedd has over four million views on YouTube. Which isn’t a surprise as YouTube is where she got her start doing covers like hitmakers Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber.

Huge collabs under her belt, a solid following, and now her latest “happy for you,” it’s clear that Jasmine Thompson is a dynamic force in music that is steadily climbing her way into the hearts (and ears) of everyone around the world.
