“Girl I Used To Be” – Mira Housey

It seems like only yesterday YouTube was changing the landscape for indie artists, giving them the ability to reach an unimaginable amount of people. Today, we’ve added more than our fair share of outlets that can do the same, TikTok being the current leader in that realm. With artists like Gayle, whose “abcdefu” is a TikTok favorite, and Mira Housey taking full advantage of what the platform has to offer. Housey is an indie artist whose newest single, “Girl I Used To Be” went from random words to a viral sensation when it garnered over 4 million views.

It’s not surprising that “Girl I Used To Be” was an instant favorite. The funky start that leads into grand electropop moments that are based on a glorious message of self-empowerment? Yes, please! Mira Housey’s confidence shines bright in her first single of 2022, but that musical prowess has been present in all she’s done, even her 2019 debut EP, ‘april.’ Since dropping her first batch of songs, this singer-songwriter has continued to pack a punch with every release since from “just a lil” in 2020 to “so bad” last year.

Each release has been as great as the last but “Girl I Used To Be” seems to be signaling a new chapter in Mira Housey’s journey to the top. Older, wiser, and ready to take full control – the world better watch out before Mira Housey is here and armed with a whole load of talent. For those who’d like to hear more from this dynamic artist, check her out on all major music and streaming platforms now.
