“Game Over” – Liv Charette

Inspired by the highs of video games and the lows of relationship woes comes “Game Over” from a singer Rolling Stone has dubbed a “powerhouse vocalist,” Liv Charette. It is a sassy farewell encased in a pop arcade fever dream.

Right off the bat, I thought, is this an electronic song because of the gamer-infused sounds but then in came Liv Charette with those pipes that give Kelly Clarkson meets Carrie Underwood lathered in raw energy. “Game Over” does not beat around the bush. It is direct and charming to anyone not on the receiving end of its message! It’s an anthemic cry for everyone who has been in a relationship heading nowhere that realizes – yeah, I’m better than this. Only, Liv Charette has a way more interesting way of singing it within the confines of this vibrant new single.

Pop-driven and almost like a mid-00s pink with a very spirited mainstream ready vocal performance but there’s a bit of this country fire in her. Perhaps it is because she’s a Nashville-based artist and that influence is innate, but when I listen to this again (and again) I can’t help but feel this is a song Underwood would’ve loved to have had for herself.

Liv Charette has been on everyone’s watch-list after going viral on TikTok and starting a well-received podcast, ‘Liv: In the Moment.’ Musically though, a must-listen and must-love and to fall in love – make sure to check her out on all major music and streaming platforms today.
