“Felt So Good” by Nick Woods

“Felt So Good” by Nick Woods is a timeless piece of music that encourages listeners to live in the now with its refreshing rhythm and smooth vocal performance. We had the pleasure of interviewing Nick Woods (Vocals and Guitar) and Scott Lansdown (Bass Guitar and BVs), and here’s what they had to say:

Q: What effect were you aiming for with “Felt So Good”?

WOODS: The track was all about capturing a night spent with good friends and the carelessness of it all. In hindsight, these nights were some of the best nights we had at a young age and the song was to reflect those feelings.

Q: What is your best memory from the recording of this song?

LANSDOWN: The most memorable experience for me was when we set up all the instruments in the studio for the first time, had a quick warm-up jam, and then started recording together in the same room. The process felt seamless, and the collective energy propelled the song forward with remarkable speed.

Q: How did you go about creating the tune for this song?

WOODS: I hummed the hook “Darling it felt so good” one night and I frantically found my voice memo app on my phone and recorded it. The rest of the track came naturally to surround that hook line. Some songs take time to write and some seem to come easy – this was one of those songs. After sitting with the band for a few hours, the song wrote itself.

Q: What role do you think music played in the early years of your life?

WOODS: A huge part! The music you are introduced to at a young age not only inspires you, but it also creates a framework and a lens that you use to create music. Music is not immortalised and forgotten, it inspires the next generation of musicians to create. Music fans will hear glimmers of some of my influences in this song (Mark Knopfler, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Nathaniel Rateliff to name a few).

Q: What do you enjoy most about creating songs?

LANSDOWN: I think creating a song with a writing partner is so refreshing as you can have a concept of an idea and it can literally take a completely different direction from what we started with.

Q: If you could be an instrument, what would you choose to be? Why?

LANSDOWN: Haha, I would probably be a French trumpet because my voice is high and punchy.
