“Fall Apart” – Hanne Mjøen

When Hanne Mjøen sang that she was not used to hearing the good without it pretending in “Fall Apart,” that is when this song went from a great synthpop moment to a lyrical standout. In her second single of the year, this Norwegian pop standout comes with equal parts heart and fear as she dives into the reality of falling into something new.

When one finds themself in a situation where love is new and present, it can leave them fearing the worst. Especially if the past had proven to be less than ideal. Hanne Mjøen explores that and more in “Fall Apart” and she is not just scared of this new relationship going sour, but personally falling apart in the process. Some can love another without losing themselves, while others cannot. They get sucked up into a world where only one other person exists, and that can be daunting to live through if you know you are the type to fall hard.

A song with as much depth as the Pacific, “Fall Apart” presents a universal idea but presents it in a way that does not feel as downtrodden. The synthpop delivery and the way Hanne Mjøen vibrantly comes through lifts the weight of “Fall Apart” throughout. This is a commonality in what she has presented lately as can be heard in her earlier release this year, “Tell Me.”
