“EYE4EYE” – Julius Black

“EYE4EYE” by Julius Black is a solemnly heartbreaking indie-pop song that sung in the most sweetest way. It discusses heartbreak, love and the fear of losing oneself in the pursuit of righteous justice in a way that encourages the audience to enter into Black’s mind filled vulnerability and hurt. The idea of an “eye for an eye” and the consequences of seeking retribution in matters of the heart. What sets “EYE4EYE” apart from other crooning heartbreak anthems is you can really feel Black’s unabashed sincerity and longing for his love to recognize what they have over what they think could be better throughout the record. Relationships aren’t always easy, and Black doesn’t shy away from that reality. Instead, he embraces it, reminding us that love isn’t perfect, but it’s worth fighting for.
