“Emotional Hangover” – ROREY

“Emotional Hangover” by ROREY is a texturally satisfying alternative rock track with a relatable message. The sultry, breathy vocals craft a memorable melody while the instrumentation collects a variety of fascinating sounds. If you like your music dreamy and cathartic, you’ll adore this song. It truly involves so many indulgently good techniques.

A slew of reversed guitar sounds pans from ear to ear, soon overtaken by the chord progression. Even with a lone acoustic, the chords communicate so much angst. “I can feel it in the morning,” ROREY croons, drums settling into place for the swiftly unfolding verse. The tonality is minor and rather ominous, which, coupled with the crisp yet distorted production style, brings about the most pristine, alternative rock atmosphere. While the melodies and lyrics lean more toward pop, the instrumentation and arrangement have an effortlessly cool edge.

By the time the chorus rolls around, the mix fills up with lush harmonies, synth sounds, and effects. ROREY floats into an airy head voice to contrast the deeper register of the verses and gifts us with something dynamic, climactic, and ultimately—really catchy. As the rest of the song plays out, it’s easy to see the talent, work, and intuition that went into making something so effective.

Be sure to give this song a listen on your choice of streaming service, and ROREY a follow on your choice of social media platform. You’ll be elated to know this stylistically solid, musically impressive artist. Plus, you might just have a new song to add to your summer playlist.
