“Divided” – Jason Ivy x Shuba x Durand Bernarr

It’s been a handful of years since Jason Ivy came onto the scene back in 2018. He has been making noise ever since, getting fans hyped for the highly-anticipated release of his debut album. Before it drops, the sensual songbird wanted to give listeners a taste of what’s to come with the lead single, “Divided.”

Somehow managing to find the balance between vintage soul and today’s modern approach to R&B, Jason Ivy presents a well-constructed soundscape that many are going to find addicting. Right away I thought, Prince. As “Divided” has a style reminiscent of the synth we came to know in the ‘80s that artists like The Weeknd have embraced today. Those musical moments intertwined with Jason Ivy’s vocals also gave way to this effervescent wave that moved much like something Diana Ross would’ve done back in the 1970s. So that balance of classic charm with the sultriness of today all coincide together masterfully in one piece.

So much so that it makes you wonder what else he has going on with his 2022 debut. It has been a minute since fans have gotten new music from Jason Ivy, but he has clearly been hard at work since his last release in 2020 with ‘Deep Cuts’ giving way to “No Time” and “Alotrn.” To hear all of the above and then some, make sure to check out Jason Ivy on all major music and streaming sites today.
