“Whisky Lies” – Caroline Kid

“Whisky Lies” by Caroline Kid is a true blue, old-fashioned, traditional Southern heartbreak song. Kid’s powerful and emotive vocals and heartfelt storytelling strike an empathetic chord in the average listener’s heart. The lyrics convey disappointment from Kid to her lover, who can’t seem to tell the truth and do right by her and their relationship. In some parts, Kid’s voice sounds very rustic but angelic at the same time while she croons her heartache away. Kid’s genuine and heartfelt vulnerability can resonate personally with anyone who has experienced constant lies and even betrayal from their lover. Especially when you eventually come to the realization that you do not recognize the person you thought you once knew anymore, as Kid so poignantly puts it.
