“Blurring” – Marcane

“Blurring” by Marcane reminds me so much of one of those songs you hear in the background of an intense fighter video game commercial. “Blurring” also comes across to me as an raw alt-pop confessional, delving into the complexities of emotional turbulence. The lyrics are relaying the aftermath of sleepless nights when you are facing the turmoil and yearning that love creates. The protagonist of the lyrics is entangled in said web of emotions, and is trying to confront their struggle of figuring out what is their self-perception and not the perception of others. There is a recurring theme that discusses the protagonist being “too faded to see the postcode,” which can come across as the protagonist being too disoriented while trying to navigate life’s passing coordinates. Marcane questions if others truly know or see the protagonist, which can be very relatable to the average listener who might struggle with the universal need for reciprocal understanding in their human connections.
