“Better Without You” – KOKO

When you fill your day with a cascade of new music, you cannot help but try and picture how and where it will fit into the world. Will it be a song people dance to at their weddings for years to come? Will it be a chart-topping success that stays at #1 for months at a time? Or will it be placed in a television show at some point? Well, when it comes to “Better Without You” by KOKO, there is definitely a scene somewhere in season three of HBO’s hit series ‘Euphoria’ that could use this song.

The first word I jotted down no more than 15 seconds into “Better With You” was “sensual.” That is because of the way this Bristol trio constructed the musical elements from the start. Every moment of this song has this sexy meets sinister vibe to it that was only aided by the electronic meets indie vibes that held everything together. Lyrically, this is a straightforward track that is delivered in a very direct, almost domineering way that adds another sensual layer to “Better With You.”

That feeling seems to be something KOKO writes with in the back of their head because their previous single, “Talk,” also comes through with a similar, sensual feel. KOKO has been bringing their best to the table since dropping their debut single, “Freak,” back in 2019. Since then these three talented musicians have released a pair of EPs, ‘Follow’ and ‘All Together Now,’ and plenty of singles. To hear all of that and then some, make sure to check out KOKO on all major music and streaming sites today.
