“Better Than Bitter” by D’Lee

“Better Than Bitter” is an empowering and feminist jam for the summer. D’Lee showcases her absolutely dynamic vocal range throughout the course of the song. You can really tell the amount of passion and joy that is put into the lyrics by the way she presents them within the soul of each word.

D’Lee really knows how to use her vocal range to get where she needs her listeners to go. Her higher register is her most powerful weapon and serves as the main instrument. However, she also includes some incredible instrumental arrangements to accompany the lyric work.

Her vocals weave in and out of the heavy electric guitar solos that really drive some special moments. The storytelling is clearly a personal experience to D’Lee. You can feel it within each word. She is singing about feeling empowered after a bad breakup and knowing when to draw the line of hate and forgiveness within yourself and your former partner.

This song has a winding array of emotional moments and makes the listener connect with the singer on a deeper level. The production wraps up the instrumental work and vocal work in a way that feels cohesive throughout verses.

I personally really loved the commitment to the vocal work and the way D’Lee sings so confidently. She is a true performer and you can hear it throughout all of the honest cracks and raspy moments. “Better Than Bitter” will be your next break up anthem and for a good reason.
