“Baby Teeth” – Zoe Ko

“Baby Teeth” by Zoe Ko is a classic pop-punk song about the pitfalls of staying in situations that do not serve your higher self, but you cannot help but “hold on a little longer.” Ko’s angst-riddled vocals reflect the same feelings that many get while listening to pop-punk queen Paramore, and pop-punk princess, Olivia Rodrigo. “Baby Teeth” does a great job in capturing the bittersweet feeling that comes with nostalgia, especially if you are holding onto the good memories of the past while facing life’s challenges head-on. Ko’s lyrics are trying to remind us that our scars and memories are an integral part of who we are, and they should be cherished and worn proudly as badges of resilience. We all at one point or another experience a reluctance to let go of the past, despite the discomfort it brings. Ko’s “Baby Teeth” describes such a difficult internal conflict that can resonate deeply with listeners, as we all have our own “baby teeth” to hold onto.
