“Anxious Avoidant” by Crxssxs

Rising musician Crxssxs discusses his creative process, his music inspirations, and maintaining authenticity as a young artist. We had the pleasure of interviewing Crxssxs, and here is what he had to say:

Q: Let’s talk about your debut single “Anxious Avoidant” Where did the inspiration for this track come from?

CRXSSXS: During our session with PROD284, Merunisa and I were chatting and getting to know each other better. This was our first session and I just asked them if they’d heard of attachment types. They hadn’t and we spent the next thirty minutes doing the attachment type test and learning about it. After that we were inspired to write a song about it.

Q: What does it feel like to finally be releasing the song?

CRXSSXS: Feels fantastic , I’ve always been behind the scenes as a producer so releasing a single as ‘CRXSSXS’ is an exciting experience and a welcomed one.

Q: Why do you think that this is a great introduction to what you are about as a musician?

CRXSSXS: I think like most musicians there are multiple sides to me, however this is a great introduction to what I want to put out at the moment.

Q: We are living in a crazy and at times rough world right now so I am curious how you think being a musician gives you the most joy in life today? How do you think that the new music being created today is going to reflect these difficult times?

CRXSSXSI think being a musician brings joy because you’re able to express your emotions in a way that other people can understand and relate to. I think new music will reflect these difficult times however that’s only one side of music and people will naturally gravitate to what gives them escapism during it.

Q: Who are some of your favorite artists or rather, what musicians have continued to inspire you and your music? What musicians would still be a dream come true to work with in the future?

CRXSSXSIn terms of being a multifaceted creator who can innovate the scene no one does it like Prince did. He was and still is ahead of his time, creating sounds unheard of previously. In terms of current producers and artists I would like to work with it would probably be Kojey Radical, Benjiflow and Masego.

Q: What do you hope your fans take away from your music? Do you find that a lot of your music has deeper meaning behind it?

CRXSSXS: I hope they find some solace in it and can escape into the world of the song. I’d love to know if it was accurate in terms of being an anxious avoidant.
