“All Eyes On You” by Indigo Eyes and Georgie O’Brien pulls listeners in from the start with pulsating beats, a fun melody, and captivating vocals. This song is likely to get stuck in your head, and you might find yourself humming it at random times of the day. We had the pleasure of interviewing
Q: I like the rhythmic build! At what point did you decide on the beats and how did you go about creating it?
INDIGO EYES: The original beat was made extremely quickly, I like to play around with different sounds a lot of the time in tracks but I have a few that always seem to work in whatever I use them for and this track is full of my go-to’s. The bass was what topped it off though, the distorted top end really lets it bounce!
Q: What inspired “All Eyes On You”?
INDIGO EYES: The track is about lust, ignoring the complicated parts of a relationship and focusing on being completely consumed by somebody’s presence.
Q: What drives you to create music?
INDIGO EYES: To be completely honest, obsession. I think about it almost constantly and there’s nothing else I can imagine myself doing. I love the feeling of starting with nothing and creating something people genuinely connect with, it’s such a high.
O’BRIEN: Honestly, just the love of it and being able to creatively and emotionally express yourself is a real privilege. Plus. music is just pure fun. Anything from the freedom of playing an instrument, seeing other people feel happy because of your track or even getting gassed over something in a studio session all add to the drive.
Q: Can you describe what a typical recording session for this song was like? How long did it take to create this song?
INDIGO EYES: I had pretty much finished the production a few weeks prior and had the idea for the chorus (there’s an old voice note of me mumbling it into my phone at 3am somewhere). I knew Georgie would sound great on it so played her the demo on our next session together and she was immediately all in. We finished the rest of the lyrics and melodies together within a couple hours, it all came together super fast.
O’BRIEN: Joe (Indigo Eyes) brought the instrumental and melody ideas to the session, I absolutely loved it, and the song was done in one session. It was one of the tracks that just flowed out it felt really organic and natural to write.
Q: What do you do to get your creative juices flowing when you feel stuck while creating a song?
INDIGO EYES: I usually leave things and work on something else for a while. I can drive myself pretty crazy when I can’t let a track go and sometimes I feel like I might just not be at the point where I can finish it quite yet.
O’BRIEN: If I’m writing with Joe and we hit a wall with a track, sometimes just leaving it and darting to a different track/switching up the vibe is the best thing. I feel like creativity has a mind of its own, and you just have to listen to it; sometimes, I have loads of ideas for one track and not the other, and that’s just how it goes.
Q: Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?
INDIGO EYES: Salute is at the top of my list at the moment. His use of old-school live orchestral samples in builds which suddenly flip into groovy electronic drops is something I think everyone is taking notice of. The new Skrillex album has also been on repeat since it came out, the production on that is truly mind-blowing.
O’BRIEN: Oh yeah. SO many. But Chris Martin for songwriting and melodies every. single. time
