“Act Your Age” by Songbird

Songbird has released her second single, “Act Your Age,” following her first single, “Stubborn,” which was released three months ago. It is a soft pop song with a chorus you’re sure to fall in love with. It captures the excitement that comes with falling in love and just wanting to rush in, against trying to be reasonable and dot all the Is and cross the Ts to avoid ending up with a broken heart. We had the pleasure of interviewing Songbird, and here’s what she had to say:

Q: At what point did you decide that you want to be a musician? How did your family react to this?

SONGBIRD: I have always known that I wanted to be a musician. Music has always been a huge part of my life. My dad is a musician/singer so he was thrilled when I told him that’s what I wanted to do. By the age of 7, I was in classical piano lessons learning how to accompany myself at shows!

Q: What is your favorite memory from your musical journey so far?

SONGBIRD: How do I pick just one! If I had to pick my favorite memory so far it’s when I was playing a show at Brooklyn Music Kitchen in New York. Before the song “Creep” by Radiohead was even over the whole crowd stood up clapping and cheering. Seeing my hard work pay off was so rewarding!

Q: How do you balance your music career with your social life/other obligations?

SONGBIRD: The way I balance my music and social life is effective time management utilizing a suite of tools that have helped immensely. I don’t know where I’d be without that. But I always make sure my music obligations are at the front for priority!

Q: When did you know “Act Your Age” was complete and ready for release?

SONGBIRD: I knew “Act Your Age” was ready as soon as I got the first master back! My producer crushed the song and really captured it beautifully.

Q: What inspired this song?

SONGBIRD: My fiancé was the inspiration for the song. The song is about how I saw him for the first time in our eight grade class. I wasn’t sure what those feelings were, but looking back now it was love.

Q: How would you describe yourself in three words?

SONGBIRD: In three words I would say I’m determined, affable, and virtuous.
