“This Is For The Ones” by Pineapple Kid

We had the pleasure of interviewing Pineapple Kid, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: What inspired the name Pineapple Kid?

PINEAPPLE KID: My defense mechanism has always felt like a pineapple to me. The rough skin and sharp leaves protecting the vulnerable inside.

Q: At what point did you decide or realize you would become a musician?

PINEAPPLE KID: Music has always been my passion and a way of life for me ever since I started playing the piano at my grandparent’s house. I never imagined doing anything else than being a musician. So after high school, I went to a conservatory to study guitar at the Pop Department.

Q: What moved you to create this song, “This Is For The Ones” and how are you hoping listeners will respond to it?

PINEAPPLE KID: This Is For The Ones is a tribute to the child inside us. The parts of ourselves that we often put aside in our adult life. For a long time, I taught myself to push away this part of me in order to survive certain moments in life.

Only to learn later in life how much I need that part of me. The song invites listeners to embrace their own playful, sad, angry, and happy sides!

Q: What do you like the most about this song?

PINEAPPLE KID: I like how vulnerable it is. And I’m sure anyone can find a sentence in the song that resonates with them and their story.

Q: What’s one thing you’re really looking forward to achieving musically this year?

PINEAPPLE KID: In the next months I will be releasing 4 more singles to eventually bundle them all as an EP. This EP will come out in October and I can’t wait to start playing live with my band

Q: Who’s one artist you really look up to? Why?

PINEAPPLE KID: Nothing But Thieves is a band that inspired and supported me a lot with their music. Their songs helped me through a lot of dark moments in the past years. Plus their musical range going from beautiful ballads to hard rock perfectly fits my taste.
