“Live A Little (Gold)” – Joonas

“Live A Little (Gold)” by Joonas is a lyric-driven acoustic ballad overflowing with authenticity. Toggling between sweet, sparse moments and dramatic explosions of emotion, this song contains the full range of dynamic energy. You’ll be smiling and crying at different points throughout. Not to mention, Joonas is not only a skillful vocalist but an effective one. You just believe every word he says. All in all, this track encompasses all that is good about modern music.

An acoustic guitar progression carves out the intro, backed by a distant piano riff. “The skyline flashes / From hopes and dreams to ashes / I’m home / Get your cameras ready / On New Year’s Eve you can’t be / Alone,” the lyrics flow forward in a delicate, narrative style. The story unfolds in this way until the end of the verse, at which point the words fall more rhythmically and a textural swell welcomes us into the chorus. Joonas belts, “All of my life,” and an eruption of piano, guitar, cymbals, and synths takes over the mix. With ease, he hits these unbelievably high notes. Each word he says is drenched with urgency and passion, acting as the climax to an already incredibly meaningful song.

Stay tuned for even more dynamic diversity and a continuously impressive performance from Joonas. If you love a good musical theatre-coded pop song, you’ll fall in love with this one. It’s just about as gratifying and dramatic as a song can be. Follow Joonas on your choice of social media, and be sure to toss him a stream or two as well!
