“Only You” by Red Lotus

San Francisco Bay Area artist Red Lotus’s latest song is a pure vibe with a catchy melody that oozes positivity and encourages listeners to have a good time while listening. We had the pleasure of interviewing Red Lotus, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: What was your inspiration for “Only You”?

RED LOTUS: My inspiration for only you was my girlfriend. At the time of writing this song, which was a while longer than it was released. Everything was fresh and uncertain between us, but I was very positive that she was the one. There was something about our immediate connection that I never shared with anyone else, only her.

Q: Could you walk us through your creative and production process for this song?

RED LOTUS: I felt something I never had before and it moved me, I couldn’t just say how I felt .. it came out in the form of a love song.

Q: What is the best gig you’ve ever played? Why?

RED LOTUS: I’m a part of a collective of artists Called Good People – our manager books us a ton of great shows but so far the best ones are the ones we throw ourselves! Last year, we threw one called Genres, where we selected a diverse group of local artists of different Genres and bring the community together through music.

Q: In what way(s), do you think your sound has evolved since the beginning of your career?

RED LOTUS: I have remained Genreless, focusing on whatever music moves me and not being categorized into one genre.

Q: Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?

RED LOTUS: I began writing, recording, and engineering music at 12 years old. I would watch my mother’s older friends such as Mac Dre, E40, PSD, Baby Bash, Rick Rock, etc. make music and it inspired me. However, with the many influences of various cities I took a sort of an unconventional approach to music and decided to remain genreless, Which birthed the music duo, then collective; Good People.

Q: If not music, what else could you see yourself possibly enjoying as a career?

RED LOTUS: I co-own a limo excursion & wine tour company in Napa, CA called Ale wine tours. When I’m not making music or with my family, I’m there.
