Q: I loved the vocal performance! What was your creative process in making “Left in the night”?
KENDRICK: It started with that little delayed guitar riff and just blossomed into this kind of epic breakup song. Although I didn’t want it to just be a breakup song, I wanted to tell my story, but in a way that was positive. Yea this bad thing happened, but I learned and grew from it and now I know what I want and won’t let anyone waste my time again!
Q: Did any real-life events occur in your life that inspired the song?
KENDRICK: Yes, this song is directly influenced by my ex fiancé and our split. It came at a time when a lot of things in my life were coming to a close and I wasn’t sure what I was doing or where I was going. So it was a major learning experience and helped propel me to where I currently am at.
Q: Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?
KENDRICK: I’ve always loved music and have actively pursed it most of my life. The exact moment I guess though would’ve been my teenage years, I went to Weaver Academy which is this like performing arts high school and it was like something out of the movies. It taught me a lot and although I only went through my freshman year, it made me want to pursue the dream that much more.
Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?
KENDRICK: My style is almost impossible to pin down to just one genre, especially with this project. I’m kinda doing whatever I like and hoping others are into it! I do draw major influences from the likes of The Killers and Kings Of Leon, but I have songs that draw from all kinds of artist and plan on releasing a lot of genre blurring music this year.
Q: What projects are currently in the works?
KENDRICK: Currently I’m building up releasing a single every two weeks this year, both new tracks and reviving some that I’ve written from my past. As well as shooting music videos and playing over 200 shows this year!
Q: What would you like to tell your supporters out there?
KENDRICK: Honestly they mean so much to me, I’ve been getting overwhelming responses to my new music and people reaching out. I just love to hear the crowds sing along, Like they know all the words it’s crazy. This year is going to be a great one full of great songs and great shows and I can’t wait to meet all of you there.
