“Tobago” – Psybin x Jay Seuss

Some songs take time to develop, while others just come as naturally as breathing. “Tobago” by Psybin and Jay Seuss was the latter. The pair found themselves in the midst of a cold day in DC with a beat and a yearning for anywhere where the sun was beating down. From that came a song that’s just in time to take over as the weather warms everywhere.

Right off the bat, “Tobago” wraps listeners up in a stylized beat with a narrative that’s easy to not only comprehend, but get behind. Psybin delivers a fantasy with ease as he laments in a very chilled way about travel plans that sound nothing less than inviting. On top of that, Jay Seuss comes through with a burst of energy that adds another layer to “Tobago” and helps shake things up in an unexpected but welcomed way. It reminds me of a song you’d hear alongside The Chainsmokers and Glass Animals on a “Summer Mix” playlist.

Being that we can’t always be who we are on an everyday basis, Psybin is someone singer-songwriter Joseph Keith can channel when he needs to release the more wild, more exhibitionous side of himself. Doing so musically, Psybin allows a different side of himself to come alive and shine via well-crafted electropop-inspired music that leaves audiences moving to the beat, and feeling engulfed in an audible fantasy.
