“Life Is Not The Same” – James Blake

It has been well over a decade since James Blake broke onto the scene with “Limit to Your Love.” Today he has released over a dozen albums, including four LPs. Now he is ready to add another to his impressive catalog with September 2021’s ‘Friends That Break Your Heart.’ The new record features collaborations with Monica Martin and SZA, as well as phenomenally packed tracks like “Say What You Will” and his latest single, “Life Is Not The Same.”

James Blake’s second single from his upcoming album has a haunting, melancholic aroma throughout that has the power to put listeners in a bit of a haze. There is something intoxicating about the understated soulful way he eases in and out of each verse. Then, like most songs, “Life Is Not The Same” hits that chorus, and you are left singing along after one listen. Musically, the song is sound. Lyrically, it is a narrative that is not unique but most definitely universal. So much so, placing it in there here and now that is our world’s current situation, it comes across even sadder than perhaps James Blake even intended.

“Life Is Not The Same” is the second single currently giving critics and fans alike a taste of what is to come from James Blake’s upcoming release, ‘Friends That Break Your Heart.’ The latest single is available now on all major music and streaming platforms, and the full LP will be available on those same exact platforms on September 10, 2021.
