“Like We Used To” – Friends At The Falls

Every decade has its defining sounds that later generations will put their spin on. With that, bands like The 1975 and Walk The Moon have been able to extract the synth-pop goodness of the ‘80s and make it modern and fresh. They’re not the only ones though. Take the indie rock duo Friends At The Falls for example. Their August 2021 release ‘Be The Change’ is an EP chalked full of ‘80s delights given a 21st-century makeover, including their latest single, “Like We Used To.”

From the press of play, “Like We Used To” is one of those songs that just grabs you in an instant. Musically, Jake Stam and Matt Montgomery created an invigorating sound, but there is a sad story underneath all the synth-charm. A sad story that many will be able to connect to because whether it’s a romantic relationship, one in your family, or a friend – everyone has had the unfortunate experience of falling out of touch with someone. Especially during the past year and a half, we’ve had. There are a lot of reasons why we fail to keep a relationship going and it does hurt the heart when you realize that you don’t talk to that person as much – if at all – and when and if you do, it’s just not the same.

“Like We Used To” can be found alongside a myriad of other delights on Friends At The Falls’ EP, ‘Be The Change,’ which is available now on all major music and streaming sites.
