“Lights On” – King LX

There are a million and one solo artists out there, even more so in the R&B realm. So that is where King LX stands out. A duo that reminds us why rhythm and blues is a standard of class, sophistication, and sensuality when it comes to standing above the rest in music. That reminder comes through in all that they do, especially their latest single, “Lights On.”

King LX takes the basics of the traditional and modernizes them, ironically with throwback synth sounds that borrow from the tubular era known as the ‘80s. Fans of The Weeknd will appreciate what they’ve done with “Lights On” as Benji emits a passionate popesque vibe while Fayzen holds everything together with a wonderful arrangement of sound. It’s one of those songs that act as a saving grace when you’re desperately trying to find something on the radio. Only a few seconds of “Lights On” can and will change a mood around.

One of the most unique and promising new artists of 2021, King LX is already on a roll. “Lights On” is their second single of the year. It followed their debut, the magnetic “Better.” Both of which showcase a heavy dose of vocal prowess and masterful musical moments. Something Benji and Fayzen expected heading into this duo as they knew one another’s skillset, admired one another and had worked together here and there for some time prior to finally deciding to bless the world with their potent combination.

“Lights On” is out now and available on all major music and streaming sites.
