“Drown” – Rose Hotel

I felt myself transported to a sexy, 60s mod party after listening to “Drown” by Rose Hotel. Rose Hotel croons in a silky and sultry manor over a electrifying guitar riff, but her lyrics create a whole different story. There’s an unmistakable tension in the lead vocal’s tone as she questions the authenticity of the words spoken and confronts the weight of unmet expectations. Even though there is turmoil, there’s also a sense of autonomy and determination to chart her own course, even if it means being misunderstood. Rose Hotel draws in their listeners into the world of tangled emotions and unresolved tensions and leaves the audience with a sense of liberation and right to self-expression.
