“Fear” – DAYTIME TV

“Fear” by DAYTIME TV gives the same energy as early-to-mid 2000s alternative rock bands. Im talkin Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Green Day, etc. I especially enjoyed the little video game sound effect elements throughout the song. Even though the song’s instrumentals are very upbeat and high energy, the lyrics are opposing that energy ten-fold. It almost as if we entered the mind of DAYTIME TV, and found how high their anxiety runs during their daily interactions. The repeated refrain of “Fear, I get the fear” feels almost haunting, echoing the relentless grip of anxiety tightening its hold on them. If you have anxiety and feels like it’s taking over your mental state, then you might relate to this song heavily.
