“5AM” – Betcha

Being of a particular age and having come up during what many would say was the golden age of emo and pop-punk, I’d bet you at least $20 that “5AM” was a song by the likes of The Maine. That alt-pop marriage that digs at your heart due to lyrics that simply make you say, “Same,” as you journey your way through mild breakdown. Alas, it would’ve been a losing bet because this song is by none other than Nashville’s Betcha.

This four-piece out of Music City, USA comes at you in the wee hours of the morning with “5AM” like a large cup of coffee with three shots of espresso. Musically you want to just groove along as harmonious vocals have a bit of a bite to them thanks to the alternative music surrounding them. Then you listen closely and lyrically, you realize this isn’t the happy-go-lucky track it appears to be. It highlights the internal anguish felt when the pressure of everyone and everything around you comes crashing down. It’s the perfect song to find comfort in when those moments of feeling like life is too much come around.

Betcha dropped their sophomore album, ‘Feels Like We’ve Been Here Before,’ in 2020. Since then they’ve been delivering an array of singles, including three in 2021. “5AM” being the latest, following “Grey Skies.” Those who want to add some dynamic alternative rock pop to their playlists can check out “5AM” by Betcha now on all major music and streaming platforms.
