“Wildfire” by Miller Blue

Talented UK artist Miller Blue has released a catchy bop, “Wildfire,” ahead of his first headline tour in June. This song explores the feeling of new love, a love that is consuming, fulfilling, and surprising in its intensity. We had the pleasure of interviewing Miller Blue, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: What was your songwriting and creative process for “Wildfire”?

BLUE: I initially wrote this song sat on an acoustic guitar. I was in love, feeling very secure and happy. I sat with it for a good 6 months to a year before writing the lyrics. I had general rhyming schemes. I played it at a few gigs just freestyling to feel out what felt right. I eventually found what you hear on the record. The second verse however was still missing. So I sat on the piano and played it much slower and found the melody you hear on the second verse. Sounded so cool when I went back to the recorded version to try singing it in. Worked so well. Production wise I was listening to a lot of SiR & Kendrick at the time and pretty much based it off a bunch of different songs, pulling sonic elements from each. Really fun to make this one.

Q: In what way(s), do you think your style has evolved since the beginning of your career?

BLUE: It’s constantly evolving. I think my sound is more mature and well-rounded than a few years ago. More confident but also more vulnerable. A reflection of me as a person I guess. I’m really excited to see where it goes.

Q: Are there any musicians who inspire you?

BLUE: Many. Currently though, to name a few: Dijon (raw, vulnerable performances), Monte Booker (love his production choices. Really interesting sonics), Jordan Ward (love the vocal tone / vocal production), and Frank Ocean (Just amazing songwriting honestly).

As well as these artists, my live band inspires me. Just seeing how dedicated they are to their craft really pushes me to do better. They live by their instruments and really are masters of their craft. A pleasure to watch them and an honour to play alongside them. Callum Connell, Harry Ling, and Nicola Guida.

Q: What is your favourite memory from your musical journey so far?

BLUE: Probably seeing my mum in the audience at one of my shows. She looked so proud. It was a real moment of realisation for me for just how far I had come. Never forget it.

Q: What is one thing you’re really looking forward to achieving musically this year?

BLUE: My first headline tour! Playing across the UK in June and I’m so excited to go to different cities with the music. With Covid, I didn’t get to experience this with my last project so it feels way overdue.

Q: That sounds exciting – Congrats and good luck! What would you like to tell your fans?

BLUE: Just for them to know my deep appreciation for their support. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without each and every one of them.
