Ryan Winston discusses vulnerable and hard-hitting new single “Weird Love” in an intimate conversation about having this love that is unexplainable in an interesting way, embracing “EDM.” We had the pleasure of interviewing Ryan, and here is what he had to say:
Q: “Hi Ryan, welcome to the Music and Fashion Blog! Let’s jump in. Tell us more about your story. How did you get to where you are now?
RYAN: Hey thanks for having me. Well, it’s super simple. I grew up in an ultra-musical family that always made music accessible to me. Combine that with an ADHD mind and there you go.
Q: I see you play instruments and produce? Tell us more. Are there any instruments you want to learn?
RYAN: Honestly the only “instrument” I know how to play properly is my computer. I use the piano and sometimes the guitar to come up with ideas but i am far away from really knowing how to play them. But yeah, the piano and guitar are pole positions on the “Wanna-Learn-Bucketlist”.
Q: You have just released a single out, “Weird Love”, such a great song! What can fans that haven’t heard it expect to hear?
RYAN: Thank you so much. I’m super glad you like it. “Weird Love” is a melodic and enthusiastic song with an emotional almost naïve vibe to it. On top of it, it features Leslie Ann which would be a reason to listen to it on its own.
Q: What is the most valuable career advice you have received? Would you share it with us?
RYAN: Right now, i wouldn’t really consider it a career. It’s more what i love doing the most. But it became a lot easier and more productive after i read the “The audience comes last” phrase of Rick Rubin. Which kinda shocked me in the beginning but after realizing what he meant with it, it really helped me with writing music that I like.
Q: In 2021 you made a track called “You”. In 2022 there was ” People Like Me” and now your latest release ” Werid Love” there is a testimony behind your songs here. Could you give us some insight into your story?
RYAN: I always have some influences into those songs that somehow concern me in any possible way. Could be something I experienced myself or even something someone told me what stays in my head. So most of the time there are more than just one story behind these lyrics.
Q: What motivates you, not just in music but in your daily life?
RYAN: I think music in general motivates me a lot whether it is discussing a mixdown with a friend of mine analyzing a guitar riff with my brother or just listening to different stuff. I love that and that drives me.
